There are no rules against being fashionable while on a holiday tour. You can pretty much wear designer clothes that would suit your fancy. So long as you dress appropriately for the type of weather in your destination, then you are all set. But in case you are not sure whether the climate would be cool or humid the moment you get there, consider wearing several layers of clothing instead. This way, you can just take pieces off until you feel comfortable.
Shoes however are an entirely different matter. Since you may be asked to take them off while going through airport security in certain places, wearing a pair of stilettos may not be the ideal choice. You would end up walking barefoot as you go through the process. However, if you do not mind a few minutes of discomfort, then who is to stop you? Since wearing socks with high heels is a huge mistake, your other option would be to wear comfortable shoes. But avoid wearing footwear that has complicated buckles or laces. Otherwise, you could cause a long queue to build up behind you.
When it comes to accessories, wear those that would not set off the metal detector. Although you can take them off, they would cost you time in putting them back on. Unless you are not in a hurry, then you might want to avoid wearing too much jewellery. Lastly, remember to bring a carry-all for storing cash and travel documents. Make sure it has outside pockets that are easy to reach to ensure you go through airport security smoothly.
